In May, Troop 221 traveled to Camp Constantin for our annual canoe shakedown campout. We use this campout to get ready for our Buffalo River Canoe Trip. One of the ways we prepare is to keep the stoves in the trailer for this campout and only allow meals to be cooked over charcoal or wood. Some of the items cooked this weekend were pancakes, monkey bread, biscuits & gravy, brisket, burgers, corn, pizza & foil packs.
Another way we prepare is to work on the Canoeing Merit Badge. We had 17 boys earn the merit badge this weekend. 69 of our 74 active Scouts now have the canoeing merit badge.
Once the majority of the boys got the canoeing out of their system on Saturday, they played a couple hours of King of the Dock. Boys don’t get to play like boys too often anymore; ours did Saturday as did the troop that showed up when we were leaving.
Thanks for another great campout.
