Cedar Ridge Training Hike Feb. 22

I would like to invite all Scouts to a 5 mile hike at Cedar Ridge Preserve in Dallas on Saturday, February 22nd. Cedar Ridge Address is 7171 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75249. If the 2/22 is not canceled due to weather conditions, another hike of 10 miles is planned for March 8th. Anyone going to Eagle Rock Loop OR Philmont will be expected to attend both hikes, and mandatory for younger Scouts and those we need to evaluate for trail worthiness.

We will meet at Einstein Bagels (1201 Central Expressway) in the SW corner of 15th and 75 at 6:30 AM, leaving the parking lot promptly at 6:45AM. We will then carpool out together to the Trail. We have several who need to get back promptly, so be on time. If we are efficient, we are easily back by 11 AM.

This hike is a great opportunity for everyone, but especially those going to Philmont this summer, and those planning on attending Eagle Rock Loop in March. If you are training for either of these treks, bring your backpack and load this up with a representation of what you will carry when you are backpacking. Also, wear the shoes that you will be hiking with to make sure that these will work for you. You should bring a light trail snack and two liters of water.

We will carpool, but will need drivers to supply the needed seatbelts. If you can drive, please put your seatbelt number in the notes when you register.

If you need to borrow a backpack, put that in the notes and we will do our best to secure one and let you know. Priority for packs will be given to those attending Eagle Rock and Philmont.
