The troop will be heading to the Ouachita Mountains in Oklahoma for our annual overnight backpacking campout. The scouts will hike about 6 miles, set up camp on the trail, and eat freeze-dried camping meals for dinner. This is a great way for the younger scouts to get exposed to backpacking! Since Halloween is the Tuesday after we get back, this year’s backpacking trip will be known as the “Haunted Hike”. You can look as scary as you want, but do not wear something that will slow you down on the trail. You could hike in normal clothes and then break out your outfit/makeup for the campfire at night. Getting in the Halloween Spirit is not required to have a great time on this adventure!
Unfortunately, due to the more adventurous nature of this campout and the preparation required, we do not allow Webelos. However, our “Chopped” cooking competition campout in December is a great one for the Webelos to attend!
