The weather isn’t all that bad. Yes, it will likely rain some in the afternoon/evening, but it does not appear to be a washout, and the risk of severe weather is low. The climbing outfit may decide not to come, but we are going with or without them.
Let’s meet at My Possibilities (3601Mapleshade Ln, Plano) at 6pm. We can use the bathrooms and hit the road by 7pm. There will be a bathroom/snack stop each way, so please send the boys with $$ as you see fit.
High’s will be in the mid 80’s and lows near 60. Bring rain gear, and it would be a good idea to bring a second pair of shoes for the ride home – bring a plastic grocery bag for your (possibly) muddy shoes.
All boys need to bring closed toed shoes for climbing and hiking. Boys need to have a backpack to carry their water and snacks. In addition to your nalgene, bring a one liter water bottle so we have plenty of water on our hike.
Parents, we will need a few more 10×10 pop ups, so let me know if you can bring one. We have a large tarp to put over these to give us a large dry area. There is a pavilion nearby, but it may be occupied.
I have only had one request for an ice chest (Neil), so if you need one, let me know tonight.
These are the drivers I have so far. Please advise if this is correct ASAP, only if you are not going. Driving directions including gas/snack stops will be given at the parking lot on Friday.
There is plenty to do at the refuge, and I am looking forward to adapting as the weather requires.
