December campout, referred to as CHOPPED, was held Dec 10-12 at the YMCA Adventure Camp Pavilion located in Anna. After Lauren Hamilton collected all the signatures on the needed paperwork, off we caravanned with our orange lights blinking as we followed the trailer.
Highlights of the weekend were Scouts learning how to put up the flag pole and tying off the ropes, raising both the American and Troop 221 flags; a game of flag football in the upper field with the game ending in a tie; and the chicken dance.
Saturday afternoon, the “Chicken Dance” commenced. The main ingredient was poultry – chicken with some surprise sabotages to make it interesting as they worked on leadership skills, communication and just having fun. Chicken safety was showcased by Scoutmaster Day with the cooking portion led by ASM Greg Johnson. Guest Explorer Scout, Alex, came to share the day with us and also be one of the judge. Rounding out the judges were parents Keith Schuster and Chendil Venkatachalam. Judges licked their chops and tasted the offerings of each team.
Drum roll please:
In third place was the Phoenix and Greyhound patrols. Followed closely by second place TFC and Jaguars. Landing in first place by a feather was the Panthers and Thunderbirds.
