DATE CHANGED – the date has been changed to December 10-12 to accommodate for winter break.
December campout will be our cooking competition. The Patrols will be judged on two dishes. One side dish, and one chicken dish.
Side Dishes
The side dish will be a neutral starch that will have no flavor of its own. Rice, Instant Potato, Couscous, Risotto, etc. The Patrols will randomly pick one to make, and then they have to make and give it it’s flavor. The pantry will be available for ingredients.
Patrols are allowed to bring ONE secret ingredient for the side dish. Some ingredient that they can incorporate into their side dish to enhance the flavor of the neutral base.
Chicken Dish
The patrols will be making a fried chicken dish. The adults will supervise the frying in the oil on the adult cooking station. The Patrols must select the cut from the chicken that will be used for them to coat and fry. As a Patrol, they will need to agree on what part of the chicken they will fry.
Like with the side dish, they are allowed ONE secret ingredient per patrol for the coating of the chicken.
Dutch Oven
Lastly, they will also be making a dutch oven dessert. Ingredients will be provided. Patrols will need to be able to keep time of their cooking. hint hint.
There will only be sabotages along the way for the side dish and the chicken.
The December campout is always a fun one with it being close by, and the Patrols compete against each other. Signup will be important so that we have a good headcount.
